Arminia Bielefeld’s stadium will celebrate its 100th birthday on May 1. To mark the occasion, the club and its main sponsor have prepared a special campaign: an anniversary shirt with historical references, as well as a symbolic return to the venue’s traditional name — Alm.

Important anniversary for Arminia

The 100th anniversary of the stadium in Bielefeld is a moment of special significance for the club. Since 1926, the ground has remained one of the key reference points for successive generations of supporters and has long been a place closely tied to Arminia’s identity. To mark the anniversary, DSC Arminia Bielefeld unveiled a special shirt that the team will wear during the home match against VfL Bochum. The game is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at 1:00 p.m.

Around this occasion, the club and the sponsor also decided to make a symbolic gesture. During the matchday celebrations, Schüco Arena will officially return to its original name — Alm. It is a clear reference to the stadium’s history and its place in the memories of the fans. Special shirt inspired by the past

The new anniversary shirt was designed to combine classic accents with a modern finish. The club stresses that the design refers to Arminia’s old kits while still retaining a contemporary character.

On this occasion, a special shirt was created, combining historical elements with modern ones: the dark blue long-sleeved shirt with a white collar deliberately references the first shirts of past decades. The Schüco sponsor logo is kept tone on tone, while the word Alm subtly becomes visible on the shimmering fabric when light hits it and is repeated several times across the entire length of the shirt, DSC said in a press release.

DSC Arminia Bielefeld managing director Christoph Wortmann also commented on the anniversary project. We are very proud to honor the stadium’s 100th birthday with this special shirt. It reflects our history and combines it with modern elements. This approach also defines our anniversary: we are consciously focusing on the history and the traditional name Alm — while at the same time Schüco Arena has stood for development for more than 20 years. Tradition and modernity are one for us. And that is exactly the connection the shirt brings to life, said Wortmann.

More than just shirt

The special edition has been enhanced with additional collector’s items. The shirt will be delivered in a high-quality box featuring the historic Stadion Alm lettering. The set will also include the exclusive stadium magazine Almpost. The design of the publication refers to Arminia’s historic newspaper.

Due to strong demand for special editions in previous years, the print run has been increased to 4,000 this time. Importantly, the club is not ruling out a second batch. That would be a first in the case of a special Arminia shirt. The condition, however, is that at least 1,000 additional orders are collected after the first run sells out.
