Spain: Final works on El Arcángel facade coming soon The long wait for Córdoba CF fans is coming to an end. The Córdoba City Council has announced a tender for the completion of the exterior facades of El Arcángel. The investment is set to conclude in the second half of 2026, giving the stadium a cohesive and modern appearance.

Timeline and investment costs

The announcement of the tender marks the entry into the decisive phase of a project that has long been a concern for city officials and the Cordobesistas community. The procedure aims to select a contractor to carry out finishing works estimated at €1.6 million. Interested companies had until January 27 to submit their bids.

In the digital sphere, instant gratification and one-click availability are what count—a fact perfectly understood and utilized by platforms offering engaging entertainment and bonuses for new users, as you can see on casinos.com.

Administrative procedures assume that after the bid submission deadline, the verification and contract signing process will take approximately two months. This means that construction crews will realistically enter the stadium site in March or April of this year, with a documented execution time of six months. Maintaining this schedule, the works should be finalized in the third or fourth quarter of 2026. Consequently, fans will see a transformed Nuevo El Arcangel during the new football season, which Córdoba CF will likely play in the second division.

Budget analysis reveals a specific cost structure, confirming the project's purely facade-oriented nature. As much as 99% of the funds are allocated to metal joinery and locksmithing. The remaining expenses are marginal, covering waste management (0.54% of the budget), health and safety (0.18%), preparatory and demolition works (0.11%), and quality control (0.09% of the total amount).

Aesthetics and material solutions

A key assumption of the project is to maintain visual continuity with the already finished sectors; therefore, the new facade elements will mirror the solutions previously applied to the Fondo Norte stand and part of Preferencia. The works will cover only those fragments of the facility occupied by the City Council and municipal offices. Architects have opted for two dominant mounting systems, adapted to specific floor levels.

In the Preferencia zone, between floors 1 and 5, adjustable louver modules will be installed, consisting of vertical slats made of extruded aluminum, set in frames on brackets anchored directly into the slab edges. In contrast, on the upper parts of the main stand (floors 6-8) and on the Fondo Sur stand, perforated and bent stainless steel sheets will be used. In the case of the south wall, these panels will be mounted on an auxiliary substructure made of galvanized steel profiles.

The investment is of key importance for the city's image, as the currently unfinished sections feature raw reinforced concrete and makeshift safety measures, negatively affecting the perception of the city by people entering Córdoba from the highway.

Technical parameters and surface area

From a geodetic perspective, the planned works will not affect the stadium's registered surface area, as the intervention concerns only the building's outer skin, not its volume or ground footprint. The total area of El Arcángel is 85,687.34 m², comprising both built-up and open areas.

The built-up area, i.e., stands and facilities, accounts for 66,316.82 m², while the remaining 19,370.52 m² is open space, including the pitch with an area of nearly 9,500 square meters.

The distribution of the built-up area perfectly reflects the stadium's asymmetry, typical of many Spanish arenas rebuilt in stages. The Preferencia stand occupies by far the largest portion with 46.7k m², surpassing the other sectors: Tribuna (12.8k m²), Fondo Norte (9.7k m²), and the smallest, Fondo Sur, measuring just under 7,000 square meters.
