Summit talks and guarantees of support

Cartagena, known so far mainly for its charming monuments and beautiful beaches, is preparing to host the most important South American club competitions. The decision to move Junior de Barranquilla's matches to Estadio Jaime Morón is the result of modernization works being carried out at their home venue, Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez. The mayor of Cartagena, Dumek Turbay Paz, personally met with the club's management to discuss the details of this undertaking.

However, there is no need to discuss details when talking about relaxation time and forms of chillout. Nowadays, this type of rest most often finds its outlet on the internet. In such places, you can often come across a free SC sign-up bonus and convenient, modern payment methods.

During his visit to Barranquilla on February 5, 2026, Mayor Turbay met with key figures of the club – main shareholder Fuad Char and manager Antonio Char. The purpose of the visit was to confirm the full commitment of the Cartagena authorities to organizing the matches. We came to Barranquilla to meet with Mr. Fuad and discuss matters related to the Junior club. Of course, we confirmed that the district will provide the Junior club with full support when it plays matches at the Jaime Morón stadium within the Copa Libertadores, declared Turbay.

The city's mayor emphasized that he cares about creating ideal conditions for both players and fans. We told Fuad that Junior in Cartagena will be surrounded by special care, it will have everything. The idea is to provide the Tiburón club with excellent logistics, full stands, the arrival of people from the entire Caribbean region to the city to watch a sports spectacle, and of course, for them to have a pleasant experience staying in Cartagena and for the doors to remain open so that Junior can play in Cartagena whenever they need to.

Sports tourism will gain a new impulse

The visit of the Tiburón team is, above all, an excellent opportunity to promote the city on the international arena. Turbay sees huge potential in sports tourism and plans to actively encourage fans to visit Cartagena. We want to start promoting Cartagena right now thanks to this international event, which will attract many guests from both home and abroad. That is why the Secretariat of Tourism has developed a plan for the activation and promotion of the city. The biggest driving force is, of course, Junior's participation in the Libertadores competitions, noted the mayor.

Ambitious plans even include promotional activities in the cities of the teams that will face Junior. We want our city to take part in the draw, so that Cartagena also plays an important role in these competitions and the festival of football. We plan to conduct international promotion in every city from which the teams that will play against Junior in Cartagena originate, to encourage residents to come to Cartagena.

Billions for modern infrastructure

To meet Conmebol's requirements and ensure the comfort of the event participants, the Cartagena authorities have allocated 8 billion pesos for the modernization of Estadio Jaime Morón. These substantial funds will allow the financing of a number of key investments, including the installation of modern lighting meeting international standards and the mounting of a new screen on the north stand. Additionally, the construction of a new lighting mast behind the east stand, a thorough renovation of the locker rooms and toilets, as well as the improvement of the areas accessible to the public are planned.
