Construction of Lazio’s stadium financed through a single investment package
During the celebrations of the club’s 126th anniversary held in the Daini Park at Villa Borghese, Claudio Lotito emphasized that the project of the new Stadio Flaminio is a top priority for the club. As he stated, in the coming days a framework agreement will be presented, which is expected to open the door to the next stage of the investment. The club declares full financial and organizational readiness to carry out the project, which is intended to permanently change the position of SS Lazio on the map of Italian football.
Claudio Lotito also announced that the total cost of the project will amount to approximately €430 million and will be covered in a single tranche. He stressed that the club faces no economic difficulties and that a 99-year right of use of the facility will grant Lazio effective ownership control over the stadium. This represents a key element of the club’s long-term development strategy, based on stable revenues and infrastructural independence.
Modernization of Stadio Flaminio with respect for its architecture
One of the most important aspects of the project is the conservative modernization of Stadio Flaminio. Lotito emphasized that the new architectural concept allows the preservation of the stadium’s characteristic historic bowl, ensuring that the investment does not violate existing heritage protection restrictions. At the same time, the planned redevelopment is intended to improve the functionality of the venue and increase its capacity, adapting the stadium to modern sporting standards.
The Lazio president underlined that the project makes it possible to increase the stadium’s capacity without interfering with its external appearance. This solution has been positively received by city authorities, who for years have highlighted the importance of preserving Rome’s architectural heritage. As a result, Flaminio has the chance to become a modern sports venue without losing its historical identity.

When will the construction of Lazio’s stadium begin?
Asked about a possible start date for construction works, Claudio Lotito remained cautious, but indicated that three years is a reasonable timeframe
to lay the first brick. The club president expressed hope that once the investment begins, no administrative delays will arise and that the entire process can be completed as quickly as possible.
After the complete project documentation is submitted, a formal administrative process will begin, including project evaluation and a services conference. This stage will be crucial for the future of the investment, as it will determine the schedule of subsequent works. City authorities declare their readiness to conduct a thorough and efficient analysis of the submitted plans.
Rome supports the project of Lazio’s new stadium
Present at the celebrations, the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, expressed satisfaction with the progress regarding Flaminio. He emphasized that the city will approach the project with interest and attention, seeing it as an opportunity to revive a neglected facility and bring benefits to the entire community. The authorities of Rome clearly state that they would like Lazio—just like Roma—to have its own stadium.
Both Lotito’s statements and those of city representatives indicate that the goal of the project is to create a new, permanent home for Lazio. Stadio Flaminio is meant to stop being a symbol of wasted potential and instead become a modern sports center that combines the club’s history, the needs of supporters, and the infrastructural development of Rome. If the announcements are fulfilled, the biancocelesti will enter a new era in their history.
