Historic Hampden Park has received a new name following the signing of a long-term, multi-million-pound sponsorship and partnership agreement. The Scottish Football Association (SFA) announced that the new naming-rights sponsor is the banking group Barclays — from now on, the national stadium of the Scotland team will operate as Barclays Hampden.

A new era for the stadium: Barclays Hampden
The partnership reflects the growing trend of assigning commercial names to major arenas, already familiar from venues such as Co-op Live in Manchester or London’s O2 Arena. According to SunSport, the financial terms of the agreement include around £1 million per year.
The deal covers not only naming rights. Barclays will launch its own dedicated hospitality zone at the stadium next year and will also become the sponsor of both the men’s and women’s Scottish Cup. New signage and logos have already appeared on the stadium’s facade.
A busy period awaits the venue — next summer it will host, among others, Take That, Metallica and Calvin Harris, and in 2028 it will stage six matches of the European Championship, including one quarter-final and three group-stage games of the Scotland national team (if it qualifies for the tournament).

A fantastic venue in a fantastic city
The SFA emphasises that the cooperation with Barclays is an investment meant to bring benefits not only to the stadium itself but also to initiatives developing Scottish football and supporting local communities. Federation chief Ian Maxwell notes that the bank’s commitment to the project has been firm and extensive from the start, covering both sporting and social activities.
Barclays representatives likewise treat the partnership as a natural extension of their activities in the world of sport. The company sees Hampden Park as an ideal place to strengthen its presence in the football sector and build relationships with future generations of fans and athletes.
For Barclays, the cooperation with the SFA is also part of a long-term strategy linked to Scotland, where the corporation employs more than 7,000 people. According to the company’s leadership, it is proof of growing investment in the region and of the desire to support local business and economic development. The partnership with the Scottish federation is intended to be one of the key steps in pursuing these goals.
