A key milestone
Work on the 60,000-seat stadium, covering 1.8 million square feet, began on February 29, 2024. The next big moment will be the topping out
ceremony, when the final steel beam is placed atop the structure — an event planned before the end of November.
According to project manager Kellen DeCoursey of the Tennessee Titans, completing the steel framework is always one of the most important stages in large-scale construction projects. It’s also an opportunity to honor the hundreds of workers who have made it possible to reach this point.
Progress on schedule
In early summer, around 1,000 workers were active on site daily. By September, that number had climbed to 1,400 — and it now exceeds 1,750. The workforce is expected to top 2,000 in the coming weeks. This surge in manpower has kept the project on schedule and even accelerated progress in key areas. DeCoursey noted that once the steel phase wraps up, crews will be working simultaneously in multiple parts of the stadium.
New Nissan Stadium is set for completion in February 2027, and construction remains on track. DeCoursey highlighted that some sections are progressing faster than expected, giving confidence that the project will be delivered on time.
Currently, crews are focused on closing the building envelope. Work continues on the roof and the installation of metal panels and glass façades, with glass modules already fitted on the northwest and south sides. Inside, teams are installing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on the upper levels. Progress there has allowed drywall work to begin — a key step before interior finishes. Elevators and escalators are also being installed and are already largely in place.
What’s next?
Demolition of the existing Nissan Stadium, located just next to the new venue on the east bank of the Cumberland River, is now in the early planning stages. The teardown is expected to begin shortly after the Tennessee Titans’ final home game of the 2026 season.
Once completed, the new Nissan Stadium will be among the most advanced venues in the NFL, providing state-of-the-art facilities for both players and fans. Beyond football, the project is expected to give Nashville a strong economic and tourism boost.
