Project supported at the highest state level
On October 7, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reviewed the project and master plan of the future Al Jazira Club stadium. The project is being developed in Zayed City, in the southern part of Abu Dhabi. According to information provided by Wam, the stadium will initially hold 24,000 spectators, with the possibility of expanding its capacity to 30,000.
But it will still take some time before the project moves from the planning stage to actual construction. Waiting makes sense in such cases — but in online entertainment, not so much. What matters there is speed and freedom of choice. That’s exactly why the most trusted brands have been reviewed here for your convenience.
In a LinkedIn post published by the Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club
it was stated that the project is scheduled to start in 2026 under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and its completion is expected within three years.
The UAE President emphasized that the project reflects the UAE’s vision of developing world-class sports infrastructure that improves quality of life, strengthens the position of youth and creates new opportunities for excellence and innovation, while contributing to the growth of the sports sector as a key driver of the country’s development.
Construction that aims to become a new standard in region
The new Al Jazira stadium will be an advanced technological facility, fully adapted to the climatic conditions of the Emirates. A key element will be a fully air-conditioned spectator area and a retractable pitch, which can be completely moved outside the arena. This solution increases its protection against weather conditions and allows organising non-football events without interfering with the state of the playing field.
The project will also include a wide range of facilities, including restaurants and lounges that will also be available outside event hours. The stadium has been designed so that various events can be held there throughout the year, including sports competitions, ceremonies and other public events. This means that the facility is conceptually built as a multifunctional venue from the very beginning.
Change of location as an impulse to develop a new district
The stadium will be built in Zayed City – a planned district of Abu Dhabi that in the coming years is expected to become one of the new major urban hubs of the capital. The new facility will replace the currently used Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, which has more than 36,000 seats and has been the club’s home since 1980. The Zayed City Stadium project foresees a more flexible facility focused on functioning as a social lifestyle centre.
Al Jazira is a club with a broad sports structure: in addition to football, it is also active in volleyball, basketball and handball. The new stadium is intended to serve as a venue for events in various disciplines, not only for the first football team.
Commercial development as an integral part of project
The stadium project is part of a broader spatial and economic development strategy around the club. In September 2025, Al Jazira signed an agreement with MAIR Group, a company involved in retail food trade and commercial real estate. Makani Real Estate, one of the key divisions of MAIR Group, received 80,000 square metres of land located directly next to the stadium.
The goal of this project is to create a modern, integrated shopping centre that will include service points, entertainment venues and health facilities. Over time, this space is intended to become a vibrant urban element that will function in parallel with the stadium and actively support the daily life of residents.
