During the latest Real Madrid assembly, club president Florentino Pérez provided a detailed update on the current state of works at the Bernabéu, highlighting both the historical significance of the stadium and its future as one of the most advanced sports-entertainment venues in the world.

Bernabéu as the stadium of the future
Pérez recalled that the Bernabéu once again captured global attention by hosting the first NFL game in Spain’s history. As he noted, it was a transformation on a global scale, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stated that the game took place in the best stadium in the world. According to the Real Madrid president, it proves the visionary nature of the Bernabéu, which already in the mid-20th century united the socios and enabled the bold construction of a new ground. Football cannot be understood without the Bernabéu or without Santiago Bernabéu,
he emphasized.
Florentino Pérez also stressed that modernity requires constant evolution, and that the current works ensure Real Madrid is ready to once again be the best club in the world – just as it was in the 20th century. The stadium is undergoing a model renovation, widely praised for its innovation and the scale of its transformation. In recent months, advanced lighting and sound systems have been installed, the gastronomic offer has been expanded, and the spectacular 360° video screen has become one of the most advanced in the world.

Concerts will return to the stadium soon
Pérez also confirmed that work continues on fully soundproofing the stadium – the key stage that will allow major concerts to return. We expect the works to be completed in December,
he said. This will open the door for hosting large concerts and events, reinforcing the Bernabéu’s position as one of the most important multifunctional venues in Europe.
He admitted that bringing concerts back has not been easy, especially due to complaints from nearby residents. The club is in talks with neighbors, looking for solutions that balance the city’s entertainment needs with the quality of life in the district. We will do everything possible not to disturb the residents while also allowing them to benefit from the new facilities,
he assured.

New amenities and cooperation with city authorities
At the same time, the club is modernizing all stadium entrances, placing particular emphasis on accessibility for people with reduced mobility. A key element of the infrastructure will be the new Santiago Bernabéu metro station, scheduled to open in March. It is expected to be one of the most modern stations in Europe, which – as Pérez points out – will further emphasize the ecological and urban nature of the stadium.
The president also noted that part of the remaining work depends on agreements with the city and regional authorities. The club is holding discussions regarding parking and other elements surrounding the stadium. The city has certain requirements and we cannot speed them up by force. Once we finish the negotiations, we will inform everyone,
he said.
