Spain: Valencia’s ambitious Nou Mestalla plan. Roof installation set for autumn? Although from the outside the Nou Mestalla is still the same concrete skeleton as it was in January, Valencia assures that the work is progressing at a good pace, and even faster than expected. The club wants to start installing the roof already in autumn.

A few weeks ahead of schedule

While walking along the Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas it is hard to see in the concrete skeleton the engine that will drive the next era of growth for Valencia, as club president Kiat Lim assured in an interview for Forbes. However, the work appears to be approaching a new milestone: the construction of the roof, prefabricated by subcontractors in the last few months.

At the same time that Valencia estimates that the Nou Mestalla will generate €80M in revenue every year, and a specialized company searches for a major naming rights deal to increase that numbers, works continue inside the stadium. In fact, it seems that they are a few weeks ahead of schedule, and therefore the roof structure can start to be installed before the deadline of December 29.

The assembly will most likely begin in November, and will last about 16 months, until the spring of 2027. Just a few months later, before 11 July 2027, Valencia will have to present the Certificate of End of Works. If it fails to do so, the club will have to pay the city council a guarantee equivalent to the price of the construction, which would only be released once the stadium is finished. The figure would be around €340M.
