Infrastructure upgrade

Real Murcia is installing and adapting new video scoreboards at Estadio Enrique Roca, where it will play its home matches in Group 2 of the Primera RFEF this season. The club is currently testing both the infrastructure and the software that will operate the devices.

And speaking of football entertainment - the excitement doesn’t stop at domestic stadiums. In just five years, Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host the 2030 World Cup, while next year brings the tournament in North America. Who will lift the trophy? The reigning champions or a brand-new winner? Such questions are already fuelling debates and predictions on platforms like Betway, where World Cup odds and betting add an extra dose of excitement.

The project is planned as a gradual development and includes the installation of two screens, each measuring around 100 square metres. The goal was to have them ready for the start of the season. Murcia played its first home match on the opening weekend of September against Juventud de Torremolinos, when fans were already able to enjoy the updated visual solutions at Estadio Enrique Roca.

Temporary solution and soaring demand for season tickets

The installation began in August, but the club has made it clear that the screens currently being put up are not the final version. Even so, they mark a step forward compared to the old boards and already give the stadium a refreshed look. The final devices, expected between late September and October, will be even larger and fully aligned with modern standards. Murcia’s management hopes that the improved infrastructure will attract more supporters to the ground and strengthen the club’s appeal in the race for promotion.

Meanwhile, season ticket sales are booming. According to Radio Murcia, the club was close to reaching 15,500 subscribers two weeks before the league kicked off. Every day more fans secured their seats, often purchasing directly at the stadium box office – despite the holiday season.

Estadio Enrique Roca at a glance

Estadio Enrique Roca, formerly known as Nueva Condomina, is a modern football venue in Murcia with a capacity of 33,045. It was inaugurated on 11 October 2006 with a Spain–Argentina match, while the first league fixture for the hosts took place a few weeks later against Real Valladolid.

The stadium is located near the large Nueva Condomina shopping centre. Although initially designed with hopes of achieving UEFA’s five-star rating, it fell short of the required 50,000-seat minimum. Plans to expand it beyond 43,000 seats surfaced during Spain and Portugal’s joint bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, but were shelved after those bids failed. Enrique Roca has so far hosted five Spain national team games – against Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Colombia and Denmark.
