Demolition begins and plans for the future

Construction company Verosa, responsible for the first phase of the project, took over the facility in mid-August, assuming responsibility for its security and maintenance, and began preparations for demolition. Official work commenced on 13 August. The project is being carried out under a concession granted in June last year to the Marbella F.C. Foundation for a period of 75 years. Once demolition is completed and a building permit is obtained, work on the new infrastructure will begin.

Across Europe, new stadium projects are reshaping the sporting landscape – from Spain to the British Isles, where fans not only eagerly attend matches but also look for entertainment beyond the stands. On the islands, many supporters turn to a prominent online casino for fun and potential profit, with platforms such as BetVictor offering bonuses, jackpot games and new slots added each week – all just a click away.

Nuevo Estadio Municipal Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas will be built on a 45,000 m² site previously occupied by the existing stadium. According to mayor Ángeles Muñoz, it will be much more than a football stadium, as it will be an economic and social driving force, a generator of jobs, an attraction for investment and a revitalising factor for the entire area.

Esteban Granero, a representative of the Marbella F.C. Foundation, highlighted the exceptional scale of the undertaking. There is no sports project in this country with the same scope as Marbella FC, and that is thanks to the city itself, he said. He added that the new venue will be the club’s home, but also a benchmark for modernity, which everyone will be able to enjoy on a daily basis. The Foundation has announced that its goal is to inaugurate the stadium as soon as possible with a Marbella FC match.

State-of-the-art infrastructure on a European level

The plan calls for increasing the capacity from 8,000 to 10,000 seats, in line with FIFA requirements. An integral part of the complex will be a 90-room hotel for athletes and sports tourists. It will also feature conference rooms for 140 people, a top-floor restaurant, and a lobby bar.

The concept includes parking for 1,000 vehicles, a shopping area, and a 1,500 m² high-performance centre equipped with hyperbaric chambers, specialised massage rooms, and other facilities for top-level athletes. The venue will also be able to host concerts and cultural events, with non-sporting activities limited to a maximum of 20% of the usable area.

Social dimension of the investment

As early as November last year, Marbella FC declared its intention to create a stadium that meets the needs of residents and sports enthusiasts. The Foundation assures that the project will maintain a public-interest focus – profits will be allocated to the development of youth and children’s sport in Marbella, the promotion of tourism, and programmes for young people at risk of social exclusion.
