Delay in returning
The 5th round clash of the Betclic 2. Liga, scheduled for August 24 against Rekord Bielsko-Biała, was initially planned as the first official fixture at the renovated stadium. However, due to licensing procedures, that match could not be staged in Poznań.
According to regulations set by the Polish Football Association’s Licensing Committee (PZPN), there must be a minimum of two weeks between submitting an application to play at a new or renovated venue and hosting the actual game. Because of the tight renovation schedule, Warta was unable to meet this deadline. After talks with PZPN and Rekord, the decision was made to hold the match in Bielsko-Biała instead.
This setback, while disappointing, did not diminish the progress made on the ground itself. The renovation project has now entered its final phase. A new stand for home supporters has been completed, and modern containers providing the required social and organizational facilities for central-league matches have been installed. At least in the initial stage, the stadium will hold around one thousand fans. Current work focuses on cleaning, finishing touches, and ensuring compliance with all licensing requirements.
While waiting for important infrastructure decisions, fans often turn to alternative forms of entertainment, and one of the most popular is sports betting. Inauguration on September 7
On August 28, PZPN’s Licensing Committee officially approved the stadium at Droga Dębińska 12 for II liga fixtures. The decision was eagerly awaited by both the club and its supporters. Club president Artur Meissner emphasized that this outcome is a major achievement and the result of months of intensive effort. While acknowledging that the venue is still not in its final desired form, Meissner described the return to Poznań as a source of pride and motivation for further infrastructure development.
The inaugural home game at Ogródek is scheduled for September 7 at 16:00, with Zagłębie Sosnowiec as the visiting team. This match will not only mark Warta’s return to its historical home ground but also serve as a symbolic celebration of persistence, determination, and community spirit.

A symbol beyond football
The return to Droga Dębińska goes beyond the technicalities of licensing or the numbers on the scoreboard. For the Warta community, it represents continuity with the club’s traditions and identity. The stadium may be modest in scale compared to modern arenas, but for many it is the heart of Warta Poznań – a place filled with history, memories, and local pride. As the finishing touches are made, excitement is building across the city. September 7 will be more than just a match day. It will be the rebirth of Ogródek as the home of Warta Poznań.
