Italy: AS Roma to stay at the Olimpico at least until 2028 It’s now official: in its centenary season, AS Roma will still be playing home matches at the Stadio Olimpico. The club and Sport e Salute have announced an extension of the existing lease of the capital’s stadium until 2028.

New stadium must wait

The extension means the team will remain at the Stadio Olimpico for two more seasons beyond the current one, including 2027/28. According to the club’s plans – more hopeful than realistic so far – Roma was supposed to play at least one match at its new stadium in the Pietralata district by then. For now, however, the project is still in the archaeological survey phase and awaiting final documentation, which is expected to be published in the autumn.

Partnership and Euro 2032 vision

Sport e Salute underlined that Foro Italico and the Stadio Olimpico are not only central to sports activities but also a key driver for the community of fans and athletes. Extending the cooperation through the 2027/28 season strengthens ties between the parties and confirms their commitment to developing and promoting their shared assets. The statement also noted that the agreement is a step forward towards a modern model of management and use of the Foro Italico and the Stadio Olimpico, aiming to bring the venue closer to international standards and align it with preparations for Euro 2032.

Diego Nepi Molineris, CEO of Sport e Salute, called the extension a natural evolution of an already strong and fruitful partnership and stressed that it is a win–win situation for both sides.
