France: PSG eyes future beyond Parc des Princes – first meeting in Poissy Paris Saint-Germain has taken another step toward a possible move away from Parc des Princes and the construction of a new stadium. The Île-de-France club held its first local steering committee meeting in Poissy, seeking to reassure the public and stress the project’s local roots.

Listening to local stakeholders

After the City of Paris refused to sell Parc des Princes, PSG’s leadership appears determined to examine all options. While no decision has yet been made to leave the historic stadium, on Tuesday the club launched its steering committee for the Poissy site – a potential new build in Yvelines, where PSG’s training center is already based. A similar meeting is scheduled for Thursday in Massy, another location under review.

Eager to gain local support and avoid hasty moves, PSG emphasized its commitment to the region. Setting up the steering committee is meant to show that, under president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the club is building this ambitious project in close cooperation with all responsible parties, as stated in its press release. After presenting the committee’s objectives, PSG held discussions with participants to gather views from a broad panel of experts and local decision-makers.

A stadium fully integrated with its surroundings

In Poissy, concerns have surfaced about a potential PSG purchase of land owned by the PSA Group, currently hosting a Stellantis factory. Building a new stadium there could affect nearly 2,000 automotive workers. To calm fears and avoid panic, PSG pledged transparency through the creation of the steering committee.

I’m delighted that all stakeholders accepted Paris Saint-Germain’s invitation: representatives at every level – regional, departmental, intermunicipal, and municipal, said PSG general manager Victoriano Melero. Their mobilization reflects their interest in a project that can only succeed with their involvement. Our ambition is clear: to build a stadium fully integrated into its territory.
