The Metropolitano in Madrid is gearing up to make history as one of the most important live music venues. Juanma Castaño, program director of El Partidazo de COPE, announced that in 2027 Coldplay will perform an unprecedented 11 concerts at Atlético Madrid’s stadium — a record in Spain’s history.

In 2026, however, it will be Bad Bunny who breaks records — the Puerto Rican artist will perform 10 times at the Metropolitano, setting the highest number of concerts by a single artist in the history of the Spanish music scene. The economic benefits of such large-scale events are already being analyzed.
Coldplay after Wembley and a break
The announcement follows the band’s success at London’s Wembley Stadium, where between August and September Coldplay sold out 10 additional shows. According to El Partidazo de COPE, Chris Martin’s group will take a break in 2026 and return in 2027 with a tour including 11 performances in Madrid.

Madrid — capital of major events
Estadio Metropolitano, which has already hosted the biggest global stars, is consolidating its position as a key concert arena in Europe, both culturally and in the sporting realm. The rivalry with Santiago Bernabéu continues. While Real Madrid’s stadium undergoes modernization, including preparations for an NFL game, the Metropolitano is ahead in terms of the number and scale of musical events.
Coldplay’s arrival in 2027 will soon overshadow the record set a year earlier by Bad Bunny. The band has long attracted massive crowds and excitement, and with the announcement of 11 shows in Madrid, the history of live music in Spain’s capital is entering a golden era.
