What does the renovation include?
After completing the first phase, which involved demolishing the West Side Tower and upgrading the East Side suites, work has now entered the second phase. The stadium is now owned by the Memphis Athletic Foundation, which manages a budget of $226.5 million for the project. Originally planned as a three-phase renovation, the project has been condensed into two phases to accelerate progress.
Although stadium renovations rarely come with medals, if you want to celebrate your own victories or special moments, you can create custom medals to make your event truly unique. Whether for sports achievements, corporate recognition, or personal milestones, creating custom medals adds a meaningful touch that highlights success and effort.
The updated plan includes modernizing the north end tunnel, expanding the 300-level club, installing a suspended kitchen on the 200 level, and adding a state-of-the-art LED videoboard over 260 feet long to greatly enhance the fan experience. The 300-level club expansion will complete the West Side Tower, which houses luxury suites on the 400, 500, and 600 levels, all connected to create an elevated experience for suite holders and ticket members. The suspended kitchen on the 200 level will be the first of its kind at the stadium, offering high-end dining options.
The north end zone tunnel will allow year-round events, increasing Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium revenue. After a 25-year hiatus, the stadium will host a concert again, with Chris Brown scheduled to perform in October. Collaboration with technology leader Daktronics resulted in the design of a massive LED videoboard stretching from one 15-yard line to the other, delivering unforgettable visuals.

Renovation made possible by generous donors
The new design has reduced the stadium’s capacity from the original 50,000 seats to about 45,632, with the option to temporarily add 2,000 to 3,000 seats for special events. During renovation, the capacity stands at approximately 33,691 seats. The project is funded through the generosity of many donors, including the Fred Smith family, who initiated a matching challenge, as well as city contributions and private sponsors.
Reduced capacity during renovation
Season ticket holders from previous years have already received information about renewing their tickets for the 2025 season. Due to construction, some seats—including suites and certain sections—will be unavailable. Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to select new seats during a special summer process.
