75-year lease and over €100 million in investment

On Monday, June 16, a groundbreaking concession agreement was signed at the Adolfo Suárez Trade Fair, Congress, and Exhibition Centre in Marbella between the Marbella Football Club Foundation and the Marbella City Council. The agreement opens the door to demolishing the outdated Estadio Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas and launching the construction of a modern sports complex.

The current stadium was inaugurated 50 years ago, but the club’s ambitions go beyond its current infrastructure, aiming to meet the growing expectations of its supporters. These fans are increasingly exploring alternative forms of entertainment, including online sports. A lot of people choose best offshore sportsbooks, where they find convenient payment methods, and attractive bonuses.

This occasion is already being described as historic by both city officials and club representatives. Marbella’s mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, emphasized the importance of the moment: This is a historic day. We are laying the symbolic first stone of Marbella’s new stadium — today we are building the future. It’s a transformative project, both for sports and the local economy.

Under the agreement, the Marbella FC Foundation receives the right to use the stadium land for a period of 75 years. This enables the execution of an ambitious project, with costs estimated between €115 and €130 million. The investment is being carried out in cooperation with Best11 Group and other specialized companies in the construction and sports industries.

The project envisions a stadium with a capacity of over 10,000 spectators and around 1,000 underground parking spaces. Beyond its core function as a football venue, the stadium will become a recreational and business hub, including a hotel with over 90 rooms, a modern wellness center, as well as numerous shops and dining establishments.

Place for community, investment, and connection

The new stadium is designed to be a year-round open space. Mayor Muñoz emphasized that it will be a gathering point for residents, families, young people, and fitness enthusiasts. It will be much more than just a football stadium. It will be a job-generating enterprise, an attractive hub for investment, a catalyst for the region’s growth, and a place of connection for families, youth, and lovers of sport.

The value of the investment goes far beyond infrastructure. According to estimates, the project will deliver measurable economic benefits to the region — from a 0.2% increase in local GDP to the creation of 1,600 to 2,300 new jobs. Importantly, these will include not only direct but also indirect and induced employment linked to the economic ecosystem surrounding Nuevo Estadio Municipal Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas.

Marbella FC’s ambitions and Granero’s personal drive

Esteban Granero, representing Marbella FC, expressed his gratitude to the city council for their support and emphasized that there is no other sports project of this scale anywhere in Spain. He also stressed that the future stadium will become both the home of the club and a symbol of modernity — an open and accessible space for the entire community.

Granero added that the Foundation will make every effort to accelerate the construction timeline so that Marbella FC can inaugurate the new stadium with a match as soon as possible. This is a project that cannot be stopped — a dream we hope is shared by everyone.
