Warta Poznań is preparing for the long-awaited return to their stadium on Droga Dębińska. The entire club community is involved in adapting the facility to meet the requirements of the Betclic 2nd League. Just a few weeks ago, as part of Warta’s anniversary celebrations, a large stadium cleanup event was held. However, this is only the beginning of many changes.

Racing against time
To fulfill the 2nd League licensing requirements, the club has acquired containers to serve as temporary locker rooms and social facilities. Additionally, the old, unused stands will be removed and replaced with a new 900-seat structure — the stand has already been ordered. Due to the ongoing renovations, Warta Poznań will start the 2025/2026 season with four away games, with the return to the Droga Dębińska stadium planned for the end of August during a match against Rekord Bielsko-Biała. The club hopes to complete all works sooner and aims to host the preliminary round of the Polish Cup against Olimpia Elbląg at home as early as August 6.

As Warta’s president, Artur Meissner, emphasized, the current work represents the absolute minimum required to compete in the 2nd League, but these solutions are not intended to be final — especially in a city like Poznań. The club already has a building permit for a new facility with full social amenities and is preparing to submit project plans to the city. Meanwhile, POSiR (Poznań Sports and Recreation Centers) is working on a long-term development plan for the Ogródek
(the stadium), which includes transforming temporary structures into a modern facility meeting the standards of both the men’s 2nd League and the top women’s division. The project also envisions installing heated turf. Should Warta advance to the 1st League in the future, the stadium can be quickly upgraded to meet those standards.

New training pitches under construction
Recently, the Physical Culture Commission of the Poznań City Council met to discuss the future of the stadium and Warta’s entire infrastructure. Two new training pitches will be built at Droga Dębińska — one with natural grass and one with artificial turf. These will be completed by late autumn and will mainly serve Warta’s academy players, including the oldest age groups currently moving from Grodzisk Wielkopolski. The investment is co-financed by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. It remains unclear who will operate the new pitches — Warta or the Poznań Sports and Recreation Centers (POSiR). POSiR director Łukasz Miadziołko stressed that, due to the funding conditions, the facilities must also be available for other clubs. However, Warta’s president assures that the club will manage their maintenance, with estimated costs in the hundreds of thousands of zlotys annually.
