Stadium to become a home for women’s football
The club confirmed in May that it no longer plans to demolish Goodison Park. Instead, the stadium will be repurposed and revitalized. The upper tiers are set to be adorned with branding dedicated to the women’s team. Colin Chong, Everton’s Director of Stadium Development, stated that the venue will gain a new identity as it becomes the permanent home of this club’s side. The average attendance at Walton Hall Park, the current ground for the women's matches, stood at 2,062. Everton has previously emphasized its desire to turn Goodison Park – which has a capacity of 39,572 – into an intimate and atmospheric arena.
The first phase of the transformation will focus on stadium infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing the fan experience and providing improved facilities ahead of the new season. Speaking at the Local Government Association conference in Liverpool, Colin Chong announced that the club intends to invest in Goodison Park in the long term and is seeking external funding in the range of several tens of millions of pounds.
