Spain: Betis prepares a difficult move to La Cartuja "I'm coming with you," announces Betis its move to Estadio La Cartuja. The change will be a logistical challenge for the club, as Estadio Benito Villamarín is located at the other end of Seville. However, it will benefit those who have been waiting for a season ticket for years.

"I’m coming with you"

Me voy contigo - I’m coming with you. That's the slogan chosen by Real Betis for this year's season pass renewal campaign, echoing the words of the popular fan chant Me quedo contigo, meaning I'm staying with you. Now it’s the socios’ time to decide whether they will actually follow the club to Estadio La Cartuja.

Pass prices at Seville's olympic stadium for adult spectators - pensioners, people with disabilities and younger people have steep discounts - will range from €385 for a seat in the top sectors of both ends to €1210 in the middle section of the main stand. That's an increase of 2-5% depending on the seat - last season prices ranged from €375 to €1150. However, if Verdiblancos qualify for the Champions League, prices will further increase by 10%.

Betis have 50,741 socios with tickets this season, but the larger capacity of La Cartuja - 68,887 seats - allows that number to rise to 55,000. Those who take advantage of the opportunity will be able to buy a pass in 25/26 and 26/27 seasons, but when they return to Benito Villamarín they will not be guaranteed a seat, only priority on the waiting list, as despite Betis investing €70M in its redevelopment, capacity... will drop by 342 chairs to 60,379. On top of that, the number of VIP seats will increase to 4,500, making it virtually impossible to have 55,000 socios in the stadium, as it would mean the club would have less than a thousand seats for sale.

A hectic summer for club planners

The move also means a logistical challenge, as Benito Villamarín and La Cartuja are at opposite ends of the city. However, luckily for Betis there is more parking around the stadium and a large bus park. The club will also be talking to the city authorities to increase the number of buses and trains to the stadium.

Adjustments are also needed around the stadium, as the authorities announced back in April. According to ABC, in order to prevent crowds after matches, the club is planning to ask the federation and the league to schedule the club's reserves to play at the stadium after first-team matches, thus keeping some fans at the stadium.

According to the newspaper, the club is also considering organising a friendly test match in the summer to avoid unpleasant surprises during league games. A similar test could be the summer concerts at Estadio La Cartuja.
