Spain: Work on Nou Mestalla progressing faster than scheduled Although significant progress is not yet visible from the outside, construction at Nou Mestalla is moving at a rapid pace. The club has announced that the schedule is actually being accelerated compared to the initial plans. A few days ago, interior architecture work began, even though it was originally scheduled to start in May.

Unexpected acceleration of work

The early start of this new phase was made possible by the efficient and optimized execution of processes in the first few weeks, allowing a smooth transition to subsequent stages of the project. This means that preparatory work—such as land development, updates to safety and hygiene measures, and internal structural repairs—was completed earlier than planned.

During the first two months, various tasks were carried out, including the replacement of safety barriers, installation of protective nets, and the setting up of scaffolding in ten structural cores that form the foundation of all levels of Nou Mestalla. The engineering team regularly conducts analyses and structural strength tests to detect potential leaks, cracks, or signs of corrosion. So far, inspections have confirmed that the structure is in good condition.

Additionally, in the initial phase, key structural elements such as ceilings, beams, pillars, and walls in the stadium’s underground sections were repaired. Metal brackets connecting pillars to parking ramps were reinforced, cracks in walls were fixed, and partition walls made of concrete blocks in one of the basements were demolished to adapt the space to the new project.

What tasks will be carried out next?

At the same time, work continues on cleaning and painting steel structural elements. In the next phases, tenders will be awarded for the construction of the steel framework and roof, which will begin assembly at the manufacturing plant. In the coming months, stairwells will also be installed, significantly advancing the stadium's completion. All these efforts aim to ensure the stadium is ready for its grand opening in the summer of 2027.
