Not Magdalena Contreras or Tlalnepantla – a new site emerges
It's now been revealed that Magdalena Mixihuca is considered the new promised land
for Cruz Azul’s future stadium. On the show Caliente TV, journalist Chato Ibarrarán reported that the club is focusing on this area of Mexico City, despite having said earlier about Magdalena Contreras being a likely site. Ultimately, the areas under consideration are in Magdalena Mixihuca. That’s where Cruz Azul is exploring options for their new stadium. It won’t be Magdalena Contreras, but rather Magdalena Mixihuca,
Ibarrarán said.

An end to the wandering?
Cruz Azul currently lacks a permanent stadium. The team was forced to vacate Estadio Banorte due to its ongoing renovation, returning temporarily to Estadio de la Ciudad de los Deportes, their former longtime home. However, due to safety and logistical issues in that neighborhood, the club had to leave again and relocate to the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. Currently, Cruz Azul plays home matches at Universidad Nacional’s CU stadium, but even that arrangement has its limits — for example, the team had to find a different venue for a match against Pumas, as their rivals refused to play as visitors in their own stadium. That match was eventually moved to Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla.
