Smaller but more modern
The construction, which is expected to take three years, is currently one-third complete and is progressing on schedule. The planned completion date is February 2027. Currently, 850 people work on-site each week, but this number will rise to 1,700 during peak times. The new stadium will reach a height of 235 feet (about 72 meters), a significant increase compared to the current structure, which, including lighting, stands at 150 feet (about 46 meters). The New Nissan Stadium will be built about 100 feet (30 meters) away from the existing Nissan Stadium, with a pedestrian promenade being constructed to the west of the new venue.
The new arena will hold approximately 60,000 spectators, almost 10,000 fewer than the current stadium, making it the smallest capacity stadium in the NFL, although it will also be one of the most modern. The stadium will be fully covered, with a permanent roof that cannot be opened, and much of its covering will be made from light-permeable ETFE material.
How are the works progressing?
DeCoursey announced that by the end of 2025, the stadium’s construction should reach the roof level, meaning the exterior of the building will be largely completed. After that, finishing works will begin, including the installation of windows, metal panels, and other facade elements. In 2026, construction teams will move to internal works. Reggie Polk, one of the project managers representing the Tennessee Builders Alliance and owner of Polk and Associates Construction, emphasized that construction work is taking place around the clock. Crews typically start work at 5:00 AM, with some tasks also being carried out at night.
