Timeline and costs
The cost of the renovations at Estadio de Vallecas will be €2 million, funded by Madrid’s public budget. The work is set to begin before the end of the current LaLiga season. The first phase, referred to as a comprehensive renovation,
will include rust removal, beam replacement, moisture elimination, repairs to the lower south stand wall, ceiling refurbishments, and fixing cracks in the federation zones. Additionally, one of the stand coverings will be replaced, along with upgrades to metalwork and restrooms.
According to information from Relevo, in March, the stadium will undergo upgrades to 11 emergency exit doors, a security requirement for LaLiga venues. Importantly, these works will not fully affect fan seating availability during matches. The second phase of renovations, which will involve more complex work, will begin after the season ends, on May 25, and could last until early September. As a result, Rayo Vallecano might start the new season with away matches. The work must go through a public bidding process, which takes about a month.
