Inter and AC Milan have submitted a joint proposal to purchase San Siro and the surrounding area. If the Milan authorities accept the offer, the stadium will be sold, and the long-standing negotiations over its future will come to an end. The plan involves a partial demolition of San Siro and the construction of a new stadium next to it.

What does the proposal include?
According to Corriere della Sera, the 300-page purchase offer includes preserving part of the stadium, such as the Curva Sud – the section occupied by Milan fans during home games – a portion of the stands, and one of the iconic spiral towers. The preserved part of the Meazza would be transformed into offices, club museums, bars, and other service facilities. The Italian tax authority has estimated the value of the stadium and land at €197.1 million, which will serve as the starting point for negotiations with the city. Details about the new stadium are still unknown.
Residents oppose the project in its current form
The association Gruppo Verde San Siro, representing some residents of the San Siro district, announced legal action against the project to replace the legendary Giuseppe Meazza. They plan to file complaints with the Administrative Court (TAR) and the Italian Court of Auditors, opposing what they call the sale
of the land for the construction of a stadium and a 70,000-square-meter shopping center, which they claim is unprecedented in Europe.
The residents criticize the real estate speculation behind the project, arguing that Inter and Milan aim to build not just a stadium but also commercial and entertainment facilities. They are also concerned about the proximity of the new stadium – only 50 meters from homes on Via Tesio – and the planned 72,000-square-meter underground parking lot, which would serve both the stadium and the shopping center, leading to severe traffic problems.
Additionally, the daily use of the stadium and shopping center throughout the year would, according to the residents, create uncontrollable traffic chaos. Gruppo Verde San Siro hopes that the project to build the new stadium next to the Meazza will be rejected and that the clubs will choose to construct the new facility in a different location.
