Germany: Defeat in Bayern’s 125th anniversary celebration and a tribute to women The Bayern Munich match against Bochum, played on March 8, was the first Bundesliga home game at the Allianz Arena since the club’s 125th anniversary. FCB fans prepared a special event for the occasion.

An unpleasant birthday gift

On February 27, FC Bayern celebrated its 125th anniversary, but at that time, they had no opportunity to play a home match. Now, after the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, the perfect moment arrived: Bayern finally played its delayed anniversary match at home against VfL Bochum.

The Club Nr. 12 fan group made an important announcement to supporters, revealing that a choreography would take place across the entire Allianz Arena. And so it did. A new anthem was part of the celebration, along with a card display, which lasted until the kickoff.

The choice of opponent was also significant: since the end of 1973, FC Bayern and VfL Bochum have shared a fan friendship, making it a perfect occasion for the celebration. However, Bayern’s hospitality knew no bounds, and Bochum left the Allianz Arena with all three points.

Women’s Day and the missing letter "T"

Anyone who regularly watches Bayern Munich's home matches is familiar with the large white T, representing the club’s sponsor, Telekom. Since 2005, in almost every home match, Telekom interns, dressed in white plastic coats, have formed this T in one of the stands. However, in the game against Bochum, this symbol was missing. Instead, a white heart with a red center was formed— a tribute to International Women's Day, which fell on the match day, March 8.
