For the first time in the history or Kansas Chiefs, the fans have been given a direct voice in shaping the future of their beloved stadium. As part of a grand revamp already in progress, the Chiefs are working with research company CSL International to collect data and feedback from fans in all 50 US states.

By passing around a survey that is drawing from more than 300,000 respondents, the Chiefs wants to understand what fans who come to Arrowhead Stadium, as one of the most electrifying markets in the NFL, hold to be so vital. In order to make the suggested renovation work, feedback from the fans will play an important role in determining the future of the venue.

Surveying the fans: A collaborative effort

With this survey, the engagement of the Chiefs fan community is occurring within the context of a broader trend in sports organizations, which are actively trying to obtain input from their fan bases, even while planning significant alterations to stadium construction. The CSL International third party survey is one of the most significant elements in the renovation process.

The purpose of this survey is to receive fan reactions to a large number of questions/ideas, or to the construction itself for that matter, including stadium appearance, what facilities are present, type of seating and so on, as well as to field questions/ideas in broader terms, for enhanced fan experience.

The survey is ongoing, and is being carried out via email to the hardcore fanbase. These include season ticket holders, casual attendees, and those who attend the stadium only occasionally.

In this survey, the team is collecting critical data about what its fans enjoy, what they disapprove of, and how they would like it to be modified or developed. Initial results shows that some of the fan base has expressed a request for more comfortable seating, and others have expressed a hope for improvement of food service, better amenities, bigger luxury seating sections, and larger walkways for easier management of crowd movement.

Moving fan engagement from the stadium to the screen

Fan engagement is not only taking place in the embodiment of this ongoing survey: Fans of the Chiefs are also showing their support and engagement through online gambling.

The relationship between online casino and sport is well established, and UK casino reviews are often used by fans to navigate the large variety of online sports betting sites, to find the best suite for their needs.

Renovation plans: Modernization meets tradition

Despite a great deal of the content of renovation plans to date remaining confidential, early evidence suggests that the Chiefs intend to update the stadia as a whole, including seating, technology, and fan aspects.

As the NFL is constantly pushing the evolution of stadium experiences, the Chiefs are committed to making sure that Arrowhead continues to be one of the best venues for both fans and players.

The layout of the stadium seating arrangement is likely to be one of the aspects to change most, with a more comfortable and flexible arrangement to be imagined.

The renovations will most likely also consist of the expansion of new first class suites, club seating, and perhaps even a fan's zone, which may allow a special experience for the fans of the Chiefs prior to, during, and after the games.

Enhancing the fan experience: What the fans want

In the survey, fans are sharing their ideas of what they would like to see change or be better at the Arrowhead experience. Adding more food and beverage choices is expected to be one of the most asked for requests. Supporters are expected to suggest a broader variety of street food stalls and restaurants, plus greater variety of healthy and vegetarian food stalls to cater to a wide range of tastes.

Furthermore, there are expected to be fan demands for better accessibility and comfort at the seating areas. There has been a lot of talk about premium seating as well, from private suites to club-level seats, all the way to new premium fan sections that will provide comfort while also maintaining exclusivity.

As the practice of loyalty programmes for fans and rewards for season ticket holders are becoming more common, the Chiefs are exploring, as part of the new design, how to build into the future a more flexible and customizable seating experiences.

Other expected aspects

Technology also has a major participation in renovation blueprints. Fans are expected to increasingly ask for (1) more charging stations, (2) better Wi-Fi ranges, and (3) enhanced mobile applications that simplify the stadium experience.

There has been a suggestion that, to the extent possible, a highly enhanced mobile ordering capability can be employed to allow spectators to place food and beverage orders directly from their seats to save the need to queue up in the long lines associated with a game.

Beyond the physical changes to the stadium, the Chiefs are also keen to create an environment that mirrors the digital experiences that fans have come to expect in today's connected world.

By combining the traditional immersive aspects with digital touchpoints, made available in and around the stadium, such as interactive screens and AR experiences, Arrowhead Stadium has the potential to become an even more thrilling location for fans to experience the game.
