Top 20 European Clubs with the Highest Attendance – Who Draws the Biggest Crowds?
In the 2023/24 season, average stadium attendance among Europe's top clubs had to exceed 53,500 fans per match to secure a spot in the prestigious Top 20 Highest European Clubs Attendances ranking. Not every club met this high threshold – PSG narrowly missed out, while FC Barcelona didn’t even rank among the top 40.
Some teams managed to fill their stadiums almost to 100% capacity, but due to limited venue size, they couldn’t break into the top 20 clubs with the highest average attendance in Europe. For instance, Newcastle United and FC Köln recorded higher seat occupancy rates than many teams on the list, but their stadiums simply didn’t have enough capacity to secure a spot.
The ranking of clubs with the highest average attendance in Europe brought some unexpected results. Despite its global popularity, Real Madrid recorded one of the lowest stadium occupancy rates among Europe’s top clubs. Alongside football giants, the list also features teams from the 2. Bundesliga, Eredivisie, Scottish Premiership, and Primeira Liga, proving that the highest stadium attendance doesn’t always align with the biggest club names.
