According to Inside World Football, the renovation plans were announced following a meeting between the FSCG, representatives of the Podgorica city authorities, the stadium owner – JP Sports Facilities – and the project designer. The modernization will focus on the main stand of Stadion pod Goricom, which currently has a capacity of 6,100 seats. Additionally, the project includes replacing the pitch to ensure top-tier conditions for visiting football teams. The funding for this initiative will be provided by the Montenegrin government and the FSCG. The complete renovation is expected to be finished within two to three years.
Officials from the federation and stadium remain optimistic
The secretary general of the FSCG, Momir Đurđevac, expressed satisfaction with the initiation of discussions and the first steps towards executing this key infrastructure project. In his view, by investing in the eastern stand project, the Football Federation has taken the first step toward resolving a long-standing infrastructure issue at Montenegro’s largest stadium. Two meetings have already taken place on this matter, and the federation authorities believe that construction will commence soon and that the entire renovation process will proceed according to schedule.
The director of JP Sports Facilities, Aleksandar Vučković, also assessed the project as realistic and feasible. This is an initiative launched by the city authorities, which both our company and the Football Federation have been waiting for a long time. After the second meeting regarding the construction of the eastern stand, held in a very short period, I believe that the project is achievable,
Vučković emphasized, announcing that a tender for selecting the contractor will be announced soon. The completion of this investment will fulfill the long-standing expectations of all football fans in Montenegro,
concluded the JP Sports Facilities director.
