Just a few months after the fundraising campaign began

Since the third-round FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, this 130-year-old club from Crosby has been rapidly growing. Before that match, the average attendance at games was around 350 spectators, but it now regularly attracts 1,400 fans.

In May 2023, club chairman Paul Leary told LBN in an interview that Marine was in the best moment of its history. After securing promotion to the National League North in May 2024, the club announced the start of a fundraising campaign for a new £5 million stadium. While waiting for a resolution to the stadium infrastructure issues, fans often turn their attention to other activities, such as sports betting. Locating satisfactory offers can be time-consuming, but there is a simple solution – find bookmakers at Betting.co.uk.

A facility open to the local community

In early February, Marine announced that the new facility will be built on an 8.32-acre site at Edge Lane in Thornton, with the cooperation and support of Bellway Homes and the landowner, Craig Sneddon. The project will include a community center, classrooms, a gym, a 3G artificial turf pitch, and a health and wellness center, which will feature a doctor's office, dental clinic, and mental health specialist. The main stand will also house a 20-room accommodation complex.

The entire project will contribute to the creation of around 100 new jobs. Marine In The Community, an initiative launched in 2019, has been rapidly growing and currently supports the physical and mental health of thousands of local residents. James Leary, the club's CEO, said: Our goal was to find a location within the L23 area that could become our new, long-term home. I am delighted that we have reached this stage in our mission to secure the future of Marine Football Club for the next 100 years and create a project that will become a huge asset to the community. We want to maintain and expand our support in the Crosby/Waterloo/Thornton triangle area while also growing our fan base in nearby towns such as Formby, Maghull, Aintree, and Netherton. Expanding Marine In The Community into these areas will further strengthen our impact on the local community.

What will happen to the club's previous home?

The club's current stadium, Rossett Park, will be retained as a community center. This facility has been used for organized sport since 1884 when rugby union was played on the pitch. Rossett Park has three sides with a main covered stand, including a modest press area behind one of the goals.
