Bjelovar will get new stadium
The new stadium will accommodate 3,800 spectators, providing a comfortable space to watch matches. The investment, valued at around €8 million, includes not only the stadium itself, but also innovative sports facilities.
Funding for the project has already been secured, allowing formal procedures to begin. A tender for the preparation of the main construction project, together with a building permit, is due to be issued in the near future. Once all the necessary official procedures have been completed, construction work will begin, scheduled for autumn 2025.
In addition to the construction of the new arena, the renovation of the current Bjelovar City Stadium is also planned as part of a wider investment plan . As part of the modernisation, a new grandstand will be built. The most interesting element of the project will be Croatia's first indoor shooting range for small arms, which will be located underneath the stands.
Inspired by success of Olympic athlete
One of the reasons for the realisation of this unusual infrastructure combination is the sporting success of Miran Maričić, a resident of Bjelovar. His bronze medal in the 10-metre air rifle competition, won at the Paris Olympics, contributed to raising funds for the construction of the arena. The city has seen fit to create an infrastructure to support football, but also shooting.
