Modern infrastructure and sustainable solutions

Lyon College’s new football stadium will feature a full-size pitch compliant with match regulations, a press box, digital scoreboard, and catering and sanitary facilities. The project will also incorporate modern and sustainable building technologies.

Arkansas’ oldest independent university is making a smart investment in its students by building a dedicated stadium for college football. With 600 seats, it will provide a proper venue for games, allowing students to support their team without relying on the small on-campus field. Just as a well-designed stadium improves the game-day experience, students often look for ways to enhance their academic performance—many turn to essay writing services for expert assistance, fair pricing, and timely delivery.

This stadium represents an important step forward for Lyon College’s future, stressed Dr Melissa Taverner, president of the college. It will not only enhance our football program but also create a sense of unity and pride among our students, alumni, and the Batesville community.

Construction of the stadium would not have been possible without the involvement of key community and business partners. Bad Boy Mowers has secured the naming rights to the facility, while the field name will be provided by Atlas Asphalt/White River Materials. The project is also supported by local banks, including Bank of Cave City, First Community Bank and Merchants and Planters Bank, which have made significant financial contributions. FARCO, known for its previous infrastructure projects in the region, is responsible for the construction.

Impact on the academic and sporting community

Lyon College's director of athletics, Kevin Jenkins, stressed that the new stadium will have a significant impact on the development of the college's football programme and on the life of the academic community.

Lyon College football team head coach Chris Douglas expressed enthusiasm for the new facility: This stadium will be a game-changer for our team, giving our student-athletes a top-notch place to train and compete. It’s also going to bring our fans closer to the action and boost our recruiting efforts significantly, the coach noted.

Fundraising campaign and development plans

The cost of building the stadium is $2.5 million and so far $1.5 million has been raised. The fundraising campaign is still ongoing and donors have the opportunity to name individual sections of the facility.

There are plans to expand the stadium in the future. The second phase of the project includes increased seating for home fans, the construction of visitor stands and the creation of an entrance plaza that will become a space for community and academic events. This project is an investment in the long-term success of Lyon College Athletics, noted Dr David Hutchison, Vice President of Development. We’re deeply appreciative of the support we’ve received so far and invite others to help us bring this vision to life.

Those interested in supporting the construction of the stadium can visit the university's website or contact Dr Hutchison at his email address or by phone.
