Purple facade, club crest and symbols on the elevation. Estadio José Zorrilla looks more beautiful than ever... but the real, long-awaited modernization is still not coming.

From shades of gray to club colours
Real Valladolid has managed to transform of Estadio José Zorrilla, one of La Liga's more interesting stadiums, at little cost. The recently completed work carried out by Molca World had been underway since last summer, and its cost - €990,000 - was covered by CVC funds, which Spanish clubs use to invest in their installations.
Thanks to the investment, the stadium's facade took on the club's colors, purple and white, and symbols referring to the club's identity appeared on the elevation: two coats of arms with the words Real Valladolid
on both main stands, a large letter V with the club's foundation crest on the north side and two inscriptions 1928
( the founding date of the team).

Club and fans wait for promise to be fulfilled
In the meantime, the stadium is still waiting for a major upgrade, promised by current Mayor Jesús Julio Carnero during the election campaign, but also planned by the previous administration. Despite numerous assurances that funds would be allocated for the stadium and the nearby sports town of Real Valladolid, still no project has been presented. However, the city hall assures that it is working on redevelopment plans.
According to ideas announced in previous years, the work would be focused on closing the stadium, whose southern stand is uncovered and smaller than the others. Improvements to the stadium entrances are also needed. In view of these plans, it is unclear whether the current appearance of the facade will be preserved, or whether the reconstruction, when it takes place, will also include a transformation of the stadium's exterior. The club is aware of the situation, but has deemed the work necessary, even if the effect will only be temporary.
