Oman: Sultan orders, Oman builds; this time a new stadium in the East A new sports town in Oman is gaining momentum. By the decision of Sultan ibn Tariq Al Sa'id, the complex will be built in Al-Musanna, with a soccer stadium at its heart. Three companies have come forward to put the ruler's vision on paper, but their proposed budgets are radically different.

€4M according to the most expensive proposal, €2,9M in the intermediate, and €1M in the most modest. That's the conversion of the quotes made public by Muscat Daily and proposed by the three companies that are candidates to design Oman Sports City. Their task will be to design the complex and its infrastructure.

At the heart of the new space, which will cover 1 million square meters, will be a new soccer stadium. It is expected to have a capacity of 25,000 seats and meet FIFA standards, but also World Athletics (IAAF) standards, which suggests that the field will be surrounded by a treadmill. The new facility will be the second largest in the country after Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Stadium in Muscat, the country’s capital.

The impetus for the project's development were the royal directives of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued in October 2023. A few months later, Oman's Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth announced that they were working with a British company with high international reputation to prepare various proposals for a sports town. Its establishment has a clear goal: to attract international sporting events to Oman.
