More capacity and more investment. Real Sociedad is planning an expansion of the Reale Arena in response to the demand for season tickets and to meet FIFA's requirements for the 2030 World Cup.

More seating capacity in response to increased demand.
A concern.
That's how Europa League matches are seen in San Sebastian. That's why the club decided to make changes to the away stands to avoid problems with visiting ultras. Our top priority is the safety of the people,
said Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay at the General Shareholders' Meeting held a week ago.
But these changes are minuscule compared to the investment that the txuri-urdin club is preparing: 10.6M€ to expand the capacity of Reale Arena by 2,070 seats. This way, the capacity will increase from 40,177 to 42,247 seats, a number sufficient to meet FIFA's expectations (40,000 seats plus about 2,000 for guests, press etc.) for the 2030 World Cup stadiums.
It could also help to get closer to the 40,000-member barrier. As of today there are 37,936, but there are 5,815 fans on the waiting list.
Most of the new seats, approximately 1,530, will be placed in the third level of the stands: 950 in the east and 580 in the west, including 170 seats for the press. There will also be an increase in seating capacity in both ends, as well as in the lower levels.
