Betis' project to renovate Estadio Benito Villamarín is still not convincing to many neighbours, who fear for the impact it will have on the neighborhood. But the club is convinced in making the coliseum a reality, which it sees as a "qualitative and quantitative leap".

The new Villamarín "is not a new Bernabéu"
We do not tolerate criticism based on falsehood
warned during the General Shareholders' Meeting held on Tuesday Ángel Haro. Although he claims to be open to dialogue, Real Betis president has defended a project criticized for its possible impact on the surroundings and the environment, the increase in VIP seats or the transfer of land to the club by the City Council.
Haro assured, as the club has been doing repeatedly for months, that the project for the new Benito Villamarín is not a new Bernabéu.
The president explained that there will only be two or three
concerts in June and there will be no shopping center, but a hotel, a clinic and offices, so it will not generate noise problems or traffic jams. The club even believes that the project will alleviate traffic problems,
as fans will leave the stadium in a more staggered
way thanks to the new leisure offer.
The president also assured that the increase in VIP seats, from 1,200 to 3,700, is essential for economic stability. This 6% will generate 20 to 25% of the turnover corresponding to the tickets and will make the project viable,
assures Haro, who also promises that the board has as its objective the sole purpose of making the béticos happy.
