Spain: Barcelona replaces the ultras... with a music band The Blaugrana has found a creative and eccentric solution to the lack of cheering. In the match against Leganés at Estadi Montjuic, the chants were led not by ultras, whose conflict with the club prevents them from entering the stadium, but by a group of musicians.

Barça's eccentric solution to lack of cheering

FC Barcelona's 0:1 defeat to Leganés at Estadi Montjuïc came as a shock, but it wasn't the only surprise for fans. During the match against Pepineros, a band of 8 musicians led the cheering of the stands near the sector where the ultras of the Blaugrana team sat until recently.

This was already the third match without the groups Almogàvers, Front 532, Nostra Ensenya and Supporters Barça at the Espai d'Animació due to €21,000 fines imposed on Barcelona because of their behavior. Club authorities cited previous arrangements, demanding that the groups occupying the sector return the sum to the club. When the deadline passed and the money was not received, Barça closed the Espai d'Animació to the ultras.

The team was stranded, the ultras are furious, and the cheering was still weak

Now other fans are seated there, but it wasn't the empty seats that were the biggest problem, but the lack of cheering. The chants at Montjuic were led precisely by the ultras, and without them the stands were silent or, at best, the cheering was disorganized and weak. The club decided to remedy the situation by hiring a music band, but the musicians did not manage to encourage the stands to support Barcelona, which was losing since the 4th minute of the game.

Leading the Catalan team in Hansi Flick's absence, assistant Marcus Sorg, asked if the lack of cheering was affecting the team's play, replied that indeed it was, "especially in matches like this." "The team clearly needs the warmth of the fans" Sorg said.

The ultras themselves protested this measure. "Barça has gone from modest but good match animation to being a common laughing stock. Thanks to the club authorities!" - posted on their X account the ultras from Almogàvers, one of the 4 groups occupying the Espai d'Animació until November, stressing that the cheering was "artificial and paid for".

In this situation, the musicians of Xaranga Pujats de To themselves decided to speak out, assuring that the match repertoire included only "club chants," and their cooperation with FC Barcelona wasn’t paid. The club has not announced whether the orchestra will perform in future matches at Montjuic.
