Staggering total penalty amount
The latest updates regarding fines related to concerts at Santiago Bernabéu—where performances have been suspended until better soundproofing measures are implemented—initially indicated 11 sanctions totaling €801,000. These fines were issued after the renovated Real Madrid stadium began hosting music events.
According to sources from the City Council, who provided information to the EFE news agency, the number has now increased. The Madrid City Council has issued 24 penalties in accordance with noise and thermal pollution regulations, which stipulate fines ranging from €600 to €300,000. The same sources highlighted that the total value of the fines reached €2.6 million, with individual sanctions ranging from €16,000 to €148,000 for the highest penalty imposed.
One artist plans to appeal Madrid City Council's decision
City officials emphasized that they acted "with due diligence" at all times, ensuring compliance with regulations and urging Real Madrid to take all necessary corrective measures to minimize the disturbances caused by concerts. The fines for noise violations at the Bernabéu have come under renewed scrutiny after Manuel Carrasco, who performed at the stadium on June 29, recently announced on the program La revuelta on TVE's La 1 channel that he plans to appeal three penalties imposed for that concert.
According to documents he shared during the show, the fines amounted to €126,000, €144,000, and €129,000, totaling €399,000. Carrasco asserted that these fines would "absolutely" be contested. At the same time, he expressed respect for local residents who brought complaints about excessive noise from Bernabéu concerts to the authorities. However, he argued that during his extensive career, which has included hundreds of performances, he had "never" been fined for exceeding noise limits. “In this case, I don’t feel responsible” Manuel Carrasco stated firmly.
