Club América already knows the estimated date of their return to the Coloso de Santa Úrsula, but for the moment they are finalizing the move for the Clausura 2025. Everything indicates that the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium will remain empty, as Cruz Azul is also looking to move.

Closer to the Azteca, farther from Ciudad de los Deportes
Work on Estadio Azteca began half a year ago and there is still almost twice as much time left to finish it, but Club America's owner is confident that everything will go according to plan. We are thinking of finishing at the end of November, beginning of December next year and I would think that the following tournament, that of January 2026, will already be played there,
assured Emilio Azcárraga on Radiofórmula.
This means that The Eagles will play both the Clausura 2025 and the Apertura 2025 tournaments in another stadium, and everything seems to indicate that it will not be Estadio de la Ciudad de los Deportes. América's first option is to move to Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, so extending the stay in Mexico City is, for the time being, plan B.
But America is not the only one thinking of leaving the Ciudad de los Deportes, as Cruz Azul also wants to move. La Máquina maintains, according to several sources, advanced negotiations with Pumas to share with them the Olímpico Universitario. Just like The Eagles, for one year, since it still has a contract to play until 2028 at Estadio Azteca, where both team’s paths will cross once again.
If both teams carry on with their plans, Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes will empty soon. Atlante already announced its move, to Estadio Agustín Coruco Díaz, a week and a half ago. The two remaining tenants will probably do the same in the next few days.
