Modern stadium recognized by UEFA

During its recent Executive Committee meeting in Lausanne, UEFA announced the decision to entrust Udine’s Bluenergy Stadium with hosting the 2025 Super Cup. This marks a debut for the venue in hosting such a high-profile international match. The stadium, home to Udinese Calcio, has already demonstrated its capacity to hold major events, including four appearances by the Italian national team and the final of the UEFA U-21 European Championship in 2019.

“After hosting the UEFA U-21 Championship final in 2019 and four key matches for the national team, the Bluenergy Stadium and Udinese Calcio have the honor and pride of organizing an event of this magnitude,” said Franco Collavino, General Director of Udinese Calcio. “This is a milestone not only for sports but also for the city of Udine and the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, emphasizing the significance of sports in this part of Italy. We thank FIGC and UEFA for their trust and are confident we will deliver the UEFA Super Cup at the highest standard, showcasing one of Europe’s most modern stadiums.”

Nations League finals beforehand?

The Super Cup isn’t the only prestigious event on the horizon for Italy. UEFA has also announced that the 2025 Nations League Finals will be hosted by either Italy or Germany. The quarterfinal match between these two nations will play a decisive role in determining the host. The tournament is scheduled for June 4–8, after the conclusion of the domestic league seasons. Should Italy win, the matches will be held in Turin, with three games at the Allianz Stadium and one at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. If Germany emerges victorious, the tournament will take place in Munich and Stuttgart.
