Musica per Roma Foundation raises concerns
The project involves examining both architectural and structural aspects, as well as integrating the stadium into its urban and environmental context. The technical work carried out by Lazio's experts is nearly complete and ready for submission to the Soprintendenza for evaluation. The project is based on four main points: the architecture designed by Nervi, sports functionality, the stadium as an integrative hub, and the need to consider environmental aspects.
The Lazio project for the renovation of Stadio Flaminio has not yet been unveiled, but it has already received its first negative feedback. This comes from the Musica per Roma Foundation, which manages the Auditorium Parco della Musica, located just a few dozen meters from the stadium. The Musica per Roma alarm – as reported by Il Messaggero – appears in the 2023 investment report.
Attention must be given to the risks and issues that could arise if the project currently under evaluation by the Rome authorities, involving the handover of Stadio Flaminio to Lazio sports club, which would transform it into a venue for national and international football events, were implemented. This could risk disrupting the regular cultural activities at the Auditorium, both due to the frequency of sporting events and the impact they could have on traffic, parking, and acoustics, which would essentially undermine the statutory mission of Musica per Roma,

Roma Nuoto works on corrections
This is a serious matter, as it must also take into account the requirements and comments made by the City’s Mobility and Urban Planning Departments and the Soprintendenza, regarding the Flaminio project presented by the Roma Nuoto group. These concerns relate to the impact of football events on traffic, parking, and acoustics.
Roma Nuoto predicts matches with a maximum attendance of 12,000 to 15,000 spectators. On the other hand, Lazio, according to president Claudio Lotito, plans for a larger attendance of around 50,000. Furthermore, urban authorities emphasized the need to change the zoning plan for Roma Nuoto and also demanded that the organization recalculate the urban data regarding parking and green spaces.
Lastly, the Soprintendenza, practically in every line of its opinion on Roma Nuoto, emphasized the absolute preservation of the original Flaminio structures, also demanding that archaeological research be conducted around the stadium.
On one hand, Roma Nuoto has agreed with the Roman authorities to extend the deadline by 9 more days to submit the final required documents before the end of the service conference. On the other hand, after the announcement of submitting the project at the end of October, then by the end of November, then by December 5, and now until December 15, the formal presentation of Lazio's project is still awaited, which at this point will have to take into account the remarks from the Auditorium and propose solutions to avoid the risks pointed out by the Musica per Roma Foundation.
