France: Brest to host Real Madrid at Stade de France? According to French media reports, Brest has contacted representatives of Stade de France to explore the possibility of using the stadium as a temporary venue for their Champions League matches. The Ligue 1 team secured at least a place in the qualification playoffs after defeating PSV 1-0.

Unexpected success brings challenges

With four wins, one draw, and one loss in their first six Champions League matches, Brest occupies 5th place in the new format and has a realistic chance of finishing in the top 8, which would guarantee automatic qualification to the Round of 16. However, if Brest finishes between 9th and 24th place, they will participate in a two-legged playoff. Regardless of their final position after the last two group stage matches—away to Shakhtar Donetsk and at home against Real Madrid—Brest’s Champions League campaign will continue into 2025.

However, the club faces a problem: they won’t be able to use their current temporary stadium for these matches. Brest has been playing at Stade du Roudourou in Guingamp, but they won’t be able to host Champions League games there next year unless renovation and expansion work is done to accommodate the television crew.

Should the match against Real Madrid be held at Saint-Denis?

As a result, alternative stadiums are being considered, and one of them is Roazhon Park in Rennes. According to L'Equipe, Stade de France is another venue being discussed for Brest’s matches, but the club’s decision to relocate to this stadium will depend on their opponent’s position in the Champions League standings.
