Goodison Park: An Iconic Venue for Football

Goodison Park is one of the oldest stadiums in the English Premier League. Everton have been playing their home games at this incredible stadium since its inception in 1892. Unfortunately, the Toffees have only won twice at home this season and are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Sean Dyche’s men are eager to secure points as they aim to steer clear of another relegation battle. The Merseyside club are heavily tipped by some of the top football sportsbooks as contenders for the drop, though they will look to defy those odds yet again.

Goodison Park hosted the first-ever Merseyside derby on the 13th of October 1894. Everton beat Liverpool 3-0 in this match. There have been 119 derbies at Goodison Park. Everton have won 41 Merseyside derbies at Goodison Park and Liverpool have also won 41 of these matches at Goodison Park.

The most recent match between the two teams at Goodison Park took place on the 24th of April 2024 and on this occasion, the Toffees beat the Reds 2-0.

This game between Everton and Liverpool will be the last Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park unless the two teams play each other in the FA Cup, with Everton relocating to a spectacular new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

The Rescheduled Date and Its Importance

The final Merseyside derby will now take place on Tuesday, 11 February 2025, according to the Mirror. This match was scheduled to be played on the 7th of December 2024; however, it was postponed as Storm Darragh brought gale-force winds to the Northwest of England.

Everton will go all out for victory in an emotional match in their final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

As of the 18th of December 2024, the Toffees sit in 16th place on the Premier League table. Meanwhile, the Reds currently occupy first position on the table with 36 points from 15 games played which includes 11 wins, three draws and one loss.

Everton’s New Era: Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium

Everton’s move to their new stadium promises to unearth a new era of excitement and opens a new chapter in the club's great history. The Toffees will carry the memories of Goodison Park with them to their new stadium.

Everton will be looking to improve their performances on the field when they play at Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, and they will look to take advantage of the increased capacity of 52888 at their new stadium to spur them on to victory. The players and fans will enjoy the modern design of the stadium which looks set to make the beautiful game even more spectacular.
