Modernisation at the highest level

The state of Styria has taken decisive steps to support the TSV Hartberg football club, which plays in the Austrian Bundesliga. The planned renovation of the team's home stadium, Profertil Arena Hartberg, is an €11 million project. The investment will give the venue a modern, futuristic look, meeting the standards required by Austria's top competition class. Work is due to start at the end of the 2024/2025 season, with planning approval expected as early as January next year.

There are still at least a few months to go before the start of the redevelopment, so there will be a bit of a wait. Many fans are looking for alternative activities at their fingertips to avoid having to wait. Profertil Arena Hartberg, located in the heart of Styria, is a multi-purpose venue with a capacity of 5,024. Its history dates all the way back to 1946. Owned by the town of Hartberg, the stadium plays an important role as a football arena, but also as a venue for athletics events, concerts and school events. Nevertheless, as the club points out, the technical condition of the facility leaves much to be desired. The aim of the renovation is to create a modern stadium that will serve the team and the local community.

“Nothing but the best”

The governor of Styria, Christopher Drexler, does not hide his enthusiasm for the project. Everyone has united to renovate the home of TSV Hartberg, because only a state-of-the-art facility can help the club obtain a Bundesliga licence. TSV Hartberg deserves an elegant home facility. Nothing but the best for them - Drexler emphasises.

The renovation of the stadium will be financed mainly with funds borrowed by the state of Styria. Around €9 million will come from the region's budget, which is a significant part of the total investment amount.

The modernisation of Profertil Arena Hartberg is not only expected to improve the comfort of fans and players, but also to benefit local schools. The stadium plays an important role in the sports education of young people - currently six school establishments use it, with up to 3,000 pupils taking part in sporting activities. Once the renovation is complete, the infrastructure will be even better suited to sporting and educational needs.

Styria's Minister of Sport, Karlheinz Kornhäusl, emphasises the importance of sports clubs for local communities: Our sports clubs are the pillars of our society. The investment in the TSV Hartberg stadium is also a support for sport on a local and regional level.

The mayor of Hartberg, Marcus Martschitsch, expressed his gratitude to the regional authorities for their commitment to the project. He directed special thanks to Governor Drexler, Deputy Governor Langer and Minister Kornhäusl for their initiative and support in realising the stadium upgrade. The work is expected to be completed within a few years, transforming the Profertil Arena Hartberg into a modern, multi-purpose arena for the 21st century.
