Jaguars owner Shad Khan expressed the high hopes he has for the upgraded facility. The venue will be world-class by every definition. It will impressively serve the Jaguars and their fans, attract major sports and entertainment events to our region, and serve as an economic catalyst for decades to come
Khan said.
The renovation project also aims to transform downtown Jacksonville. As the team owner pointed out, the new stadium will bring a boost to Downtown Jacksonville. Shad Khan expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the ambitious project, noting that while much work still lies ahead, there is already much to be proud of and happy about the success achieved.
Flexible logistics solutions during EverBank Stadium redevelopment
The EverBank Stadium renovation is the result of a partnership between the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Jaguars club. Through this partnership, the team has committed to remain in its current home by signing a new multi-year lease. The decision to upgrade the on-site stadium dispels speculation about a possible relocation of the team.
The new agreement stipulates that from 2028, the Jaguars will play one home game in London, while fulfilling other international obligations of the NFL. This arrangement allows the team to have global promotional activities. The construction period of EverBank Stadium will require special logistical arrangements. Under the agreement, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be able to play up to six international games during the redevelopment, which will begin in 2025.
During the first two years of the upgrade, the team will be able to play at EverBank Stadium, although the capacity of the stadium will be reduced from the 2026 season onwards. For the 2027 season, however, the Jaguars will have to leave their home stadium and play games at a yet-to-be-determined venue outside Jacksonville. The agreement also allows for the possibility of playing three international matches during that time.
