Portugal: Campo Municipal de Campanhã to be built soon The City Council of Porto has officially announced that the construction of the Campo Municipal de Campanhã will begin on October 21. This development follows the decision to demolish the old Ruy Navega stadium, which had been used by Clube Desportivo de Portugal for many years.

New stadium on the map of Porto

The municipality of Porto revealed in a statement that, after several months of analysis by the Court of Auditors, they have received the green light to proceed with the construction of the Campo Municipal de Campanhã. The new stadium will be located on a 17,000-square-meter plot situated between Rua de Justino Teixeira and the city’s swimming pools. It will feature a pitch with the necessary dimensions for hosting official matches, equipped with artificial turf and an automatic irrigation system.

Designed by Mota&Pestana Arquitetos, the project includes more than just a football stadium. In addition to the sports facilities, the plan includes the construction of several auxiliary buildings. These will include medical facilities, first-aid rooms, technical rooms, locker rooms for athletes and referees, as well as space for ticket offices, a café, and sanitary facilities. The stadium will have a covered stand with seating for 488 spectators, including special spaces for people with limited mobility.

We are confident that many residents of Porto are looking forward to the construction of this new facility, but some prefer to enjoy online activities instead of following sports. For this reason, they turn to SlotsJudge, especially the reviews of casino online Portugal. Users can find details about available games, bonuses, payment methods, and security, which helps them choose the right casino for playing.

Sustainability is a key part of the project. The new stadium will be equipped with over a hundred photovoltaic panels to generate renewable energy. Furthermore, the relocation of the existing water supply network along one side of the stadium will allow the creation of a rain garden, designed to collect rainwater. This feature will help reduce water waste while maintaining the stadium grounds.

When will the project be completed?

Campo Municipal de Campanhã will become the new home of Desportivo de Portugal, who will benefit from the modern facilities once the project is completed. The investment is estimated to be around €4.2 million, with the stadium expected to be finished by April 2026. The construction work will be overseen by the consortium Construções Pardais – Irmãos Monteiros and BraveryGlobe.

In addition to the stadium itself, the project will involve the creation of a new street that will connect to Rua de Justino Teixeira. This will be accompanied by the development of 32 parking spaces and a pedestrian pathway along Rua do Dr. Sousa Ávides, near the municipal swimming pools. The plans also include the creation of green spaces, with around 70 trees set to be planted. In May 2019, the City Council of Porto approved an annual subsidy of €21,000 to support Desportivo de Portugal until the final transfer of the land to Justino Teixeira. This land was provided in exchange for the construction of the Health Center in Ramalde. The new stadium is expected to bring both economic and social benefits to the area, improving the local infrastructure and providing a modern facility for both sports and the community.
