9,000 new seats, a fan zone for 3,000 people, a hotel, a skywalk, a skybar... The work that is going on at the North Stand will provide the Citizens arena with facilities on a par with the Bernabeu or Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The most important results can already be clearly seen: the giant metal structure on which the new structure will rest.

New milestone at Etihad Stadium
The work under way at Etihad Stadium since last fall has reached a key moment. The steel structure on which the new North Stand will rest has been completed and attached
to the current structure of the stadium. Now the work will include filling the stands with concrete and building up to incorporate the framework, which is standing outside
for now, as an integral part of the stadium.
It’s an exciting moment in our building programme for the new steel structure to be attached and bolted to the existing North Stand,
celebrated the symbolic joining of the new and old structure by Ed Dalton, the club's director of infrastructure development, who assured that work is progressing at pace.

The new Etihad Stadium in the European lead
However, the investment in the expansion of Citizens' home includes not only the expansion of the North Stand, which will increase the number of seats by 7900 to 62,170 seats. At the same time, a hotel, which is already at an advanced stage of work, and a club building, which will house offices, a museum or store, are being built behind the rebuilt grandstand. This will create 890 new jobs.
The immediate effect of the project will be to increase the stadium's capacity and create new buildings, but the investment of £300 million has a more ambitious goal: to join the world's leading stadiums. A Skybar at the top of the North Stand, a Skywalk, a fan zone for 3,000 people, a square, a hotel for 400 guests… All of this is expected to put the Citizens temple on a par with Real Madrid’s or Spurs' arenas.
