According to Relevo, the Skybar, a new VIP area and one of the gems of Santiago Bernabéu, remains closed, with its opening delayed by several months. Initially, the space was scheduled to open on April 21 during Real Madrid's home game against FC Barcelona, but this did not happen.

External company’s responsibility

The work progressed slower than expected, and the opening was rescheduled for the last game of the 2023/24 season against Real Betis, but again, it didn’t take place. The date was pushed back once more to the first game of the 2024/25 season at Santiago Bernabéu, but even after a two-month break, the VIP area wasn’t completed.

Real Madrid entrusted the management of the Skybar to an investment group specializing in such facilities. The plan was for the Skybar to not only serve as a VIP lounge for watching games but also as a restaurant open on non-match days, a nightclub on weekends, and a space for business events. However, the club found itself a victim of this group, which failed to fulfill its promises. Although some work was completed, discussions were held with hospitality professionals, and staff was hired, the necessary payments for obtaining a construction permit were not made.

New investors, same problems

The club decided to offer the space to new investors again, hoping they would complete the work and open the Skybar. In late August, the García-Delgado de Jerez business group took on the challenge, appointing Aida Marina Argüelles as general manager. Unfortunately, a month and a half after the Andalusians’ arrival, the situation has not improved. They haven’t covered all the required fees to operate the Skybar, and Real Madrid officials are growing impatient.

If the payment deadline is missed, the group risks losing its license. It seems likely that the club will ultimately take over management of the area and look for ways to open it as quickly as possible to start generating revenue.
