New video experiences
In recent weeks, the club has been working on enabling match replays on the video scoreboard and improving the stadium’s lighting. According to ABC, based on sources in Córdoba, El Arcángel will now use the video scoreboard installed in the Fondo Sur in new ways. Córdoba CF is working to make it possible to broadcast replays of key match actions, including decisions evaluated by the VAR system. This is an exciting new feature for fans, who will be able to experience this for the first time at their stadium. Fans may also enjoy other thrilling experiences, similar to the best slot sites not on GamStop, which offer fewer restrictions and a greater variety of games.
However, the fans seated in the Fondo Sur will be most affected by the changes, as El Arcángel currently has only one scoreboard, and the club has confirmed that there are no plans to install an additional screen this season. In the longer term, Córdoba CF will need to install two panoramic video boards. The current scoreboard's display had to be adjusted from the 4:3 format to LaLiga’s required 16:9 aspect ratio. Redistributing the signal, owned by the Mediapro company, required additional external wiring.
Improved lighting
Additionally, Córdoba CF has upgraded the stadium’s lighting. Before these minor improvements, the stadium’s lighting efficiency was at 50%, with an outdated system in place for many years. A complete overhaul of the lighting system at El Arcángel will require a significant financial investment and is expected to take around two months. As an initial step toward this major change, set to take place next season, additional lights were installed before the match against Racing de Ferrol, improving the lighting efficiency by about 20%.
The beginning of changes
However, these are not the last changes to be made at El Arcángel. The stadium will also undergo further renovations, specifically the dugouts, which need to be updated to meet LaLiga’s standards.
On July 15, the Local Government Board gave the green light for the formal approval of a concession for the private use of the Nuevo Arcángel’s sports facilities to Unión Futbolística Cordobesa Sociedad Unida Deportiva, the company that owns Córdoba Club de Fútbol, in accordance with the technical offer submitted, for an annual fee of €110,000. This provides hope for a smooth completion of all necessary upgrades to the stadium. Córdoba CF moved to El Arcángel after its construction in 1993, leaving behind its previous home. However, it soon became clear that the stadium, although built as a track and field venue, was primarily used for football matches. In 2005, a renovation was carried out due to the stands being too flat and too far from the pitch, which hindered the football-viewing experience. Today, the stadium has a capacity of 21,822 spectators.
