Spain: Madrid accuses the neighbours of Bernabeu of lying

It is no longer a cold war. El Confidencial publicised on Thursday afternoon that the Asociación Vecinal de Perjudicados por el Bernabéu filed an appeal denouncing that Real Madrid has been operating without a licence for the stadium. The response did not take long to arrive. The club accuses the neighbours of spreading "categorically false information".

The cold war is over
El Confidencial published on Thursday afternoon a part of the complaint of The Neighborhood Association of Affected by the Bernabéu according to which the Community of Madrid has been deceived, granting the permits in the false belief that the document presented accredited the existence of an operating licence in force.
The document is part of the judicial front opened by the Association, which is trying in this way to stop the concerts at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu (and so far, it has succeeded to do so). The City Council assured El Confidencial that the stadium has an operating licence, being the last one awarded on August 30, 2024 (when several concerts had already been held), and the previous one in 2017.

However, the neighbours claim that since these were the years in which the Bernabéu was under construction, it needed another licence, since the previous one had expired with the beginning of the remodelling of the stadium. They also add that they asked several times to see the current licence, and no documents other than the construction licence were presented to them.
Madrid strikes back
Real Madrid took a few hours to react, but did so in a resounding manner. The official statement issued by the club accuses the neighbours of disseminating categorically false information
that it transfers maliciously and knowing it's false
to the judges and public information.
Also, the club defends that if it has the corresponding municipal licence of activity and operation
to organise sporting events, denies that it has expired and denies having deceived the authorities. It has also assured that each of the concerts held at the Bernabéu had the necessary licence.
At the same time, the club has assured that it works actively,
together with the authorities, for sustainability and coexistence
and that its objective is that all activities at the stadium are held with full respect, not only for the law, but also for the environment and the neighbourhood.

Until now it was a cold war, with tensions and adverse interests, but also with hope to solve the problem that did not benefit anyone. But it is no longer like that. Since yesterday, the club and the Association are in the middle of a hot war.
